But you're not Chinese

Youre_not_chinese
If you are new to Chinese medicine, this little short explains common questions, like education and licensing standards, the difference between chiropractic acupuncture and acupuncture given by someone who practices Chinese medicine, and how it is not hocus pocos.

September marks the beginning of the school year, the start of fall, and the start of cold and flu season. With kids being back in school, the whole family is susceptible to getting sick, and more often.

In western medicine, there is no cure. Just good lifestyle choices such as rest, hydration, add a dose of cold or flu medicine like Nyquil or Dayquil on top of it and wait it out. There is nothing worse than being sick with the crud. It is exhausting, it feels rotten, and recovering seems to take forever. Getting a cold or flu is inconvenient for our busy lives, and everyone would agree that they would be better off without it!

Fall Allergies

Sneezing_ladyAbout ten years ago, I moved here from lovely and perfect San Diego.   It was early March and only a few short months later, I learned, without insurance, that I was allergic to every single thing that grew here.   Each spring for the next three years, I would end up in the hospital because it set off such severe allergic asthma.   I didn’t know I was allergic to anything.   I ended up having to be on Advair, Singulair, and a fast acting inhaler.   I also had to start taking allergy medicine in late winter to build it up for spring.   I absolutely hated taking anything mainly out of laziness and the rebellion of having to take something at all, so I wasn’t always consistent.   This was miserable and expensive!   Needless to say I dreaded spring.

Rebuilding after miscarriage

peaceful
The ability to become pregnant is a wonderful gift, but to have it suddenly taken away can be traumatic.  Having a miscarriage can be both physically and emotionally draining, and when it comes to having recurrent miscarriages, the body becomes both physically and emotionally exhausted.

The heart is an amazing thing. We all know its very important to take care of it and most of us by now know that if we don't, we face such things as heart disease.

Aside from just needles, Chinese medicine consists of other healing modalities.

Herbal formulas are used and prescribed either alone or with acupuncture to supplement treatment.  Many herbs are safe and can be used along with western medications. It is important to inform your practitioner of any medications you are taking or are allergic to.
