Put down those melon balls!

Grassy_field
Spring is almost here! The snow is melting revealing the dormant grass that lay beneath it. After this winter, brown grass never looked so good. But with spring comes spring allergies. For allergy sufferers, the end of winter and the start of spring isn't necessarily a time to look forward to. Heart health and fat

Healthy_fatsWhat do you think of when you hear: (dietary) fat? The picture that comes to my mind is of french fries dripping grease, or a really greasy pizza. I think most of us picture the unhealthy fats but in all actuality, not all dietary fat is bad. Between saturated, polyunsaturated, monounsaturated and trans fats, it can be confusing to know which are the good fats and which are the bad fats. High levels of LDL (found in the bad fats) can increase your risk of heart disease, while high levels of HDL(found in the good fats) can help lower your risk of heart disease. In spirit of heart awareness month, I thought I'd help break it down a little.

Stress can lead to heart disease in women

Women_and_heart
Women tend to be natural care givers which often gets misconstrued with "responsible for everything on earth".  Between children, relationships, career, home, errands and so on, it is hard to find that balance that brings us out of that frenzied state, and into our own state of relaxation.  Heart disease is the number one killer among women.  It is important to remember that taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of everyone and everything else!
