Key to eating healthy is knowing when to eat. We've all had times when we've skipped meals or tried to make up for it by eating a large meal all at once.

Coffee

coffee-beans
I get a lot questions about whether or not coffee is okay to drink. Moderation is key. While anything in excess is never a good thing, my personal beliefs are the same with coffee and tea. Now, when I say coffee, I am not talking about all the sugar, fake sugars, flavors, and cream that we overload our cups with. I'm talking about a mild cup of coffee. 8oz. (And I'm of course not talking about the 3-6 cups of 8 oz a day that a lot of people tend to drink.)

From a TCM perspective, this article describes the actions, functions, and benefits (yes, I said benefits) of coffee.

Charting

Charting
When women come into my office wanting to get pregnant, I ask them two easy questions: On what day do you ovulate and how long are your cycles. It amazes me that most women do not even know how long their cycles are! Well, I tell them, we should probably figure that out. One great and easy way to see what and how your body is doing each cycle is to chart them. (If you need a chart, I have one under the “Women's Tab” and then under “Resources” as a PDF file.) To get a pretty good idea of what your cycles are like, I would recommend charting for at least three cycles.

Keeping up with your New Year's goals!

Stop_making_excuses
Most of you are on week three of your new year's goals.  The first three weeks were easy as you poured your heart into these goals, but as time goes on and your ambition wears off, your resolutions are slipping away from you and so is that progress.  "I'll work out tomorrow", "I'll just have this one cigarette", "I'll just ignore this crappy feeling and not deal with my health issues".   Stick with it!  You made these goals because they were important to you.  You and your health are worth it.

Happy Thanksgiving!

 Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving! Most of us are going to indulge and eat all the yummy foods that we can physically stand. I know that I am. I will       admit it. I love turkey day and I plan on thoroughly enjoying it. I know that I will pay the price after wards, but I also know a few tricks to help ease that over eating discomfort.

More and more stars are talking about their experiences with Chinese medicine and their own fertility challenges.  In this article, Mariah Carey is said to have had "once a day acupuncture".  Many women do not have the time or the money for once a day acupuncture, but treatments can be supplemented by herbs with very effective results.  Although once a day acupuncture may not seem very realistic, Mariah's fertility challenges can still be related to by women who are experiencing the same thing.
