Chronic Lyme Disease

I started to see Christine at the lowest point in my life as I was dealing with Chronic Lyme Disease and could no longer work.  (I tried acupuncture a year or two earlier with a different person but did not feel comfortable with it.)

My experience with Christine has been so overwhelmingly positive that it is difficult to describe how much she has helped me.  First of all, her training and background help to give her a wide range of knowledge that she is able to share in a very gently and caring way.  Over the past 8 months, I have felt that she has been a special angel that is there to listen to me and that she truly cares about my progress as she has worked to help me.

Treatment for Chronic Lyme Disease involves long term use of several strong doses of antibiotics everyday, which in itself is not easy on the body.  Christine's knowledge and kindness have made my treatments so much easier, and I am much stronger and able to enjoy my family and friends so much more than I was when I first walked into Christine's office.

I have highly recommended Christine's services to my friends.  Christine provides an exceptional acupuncture service for a wide variety of needs and she does this in a way that allows the patient to feel safe and comfortable.  She has been a "miracle worker" in my life and I am very grateful to her for all that she has done to help me.

Thanks Christine for all the ways that you are helping me to continue to heal!

Fall Allergies

Sneezing_ladyAbout ten years ago, I moved here from lovely and perfect San Diego.   It was early March and only a few short months later, I learned, without insurance, that I was allergic to every single thing that grew here.   Each spring for the next three years, I would end up in the hospital because it set off such severe allergic asthma.   I didn’t know I was allergic to anything.   I ended up having to be on Advair, Singulair, and a fast acting inhaler.   I also had to start taking allergy medicine in late winter to build it up for spring.   I absolutely hated taking anything mainly out of laziness and the rebellion of having to take something at all, so I wasn’t always consistent.   This was miserable and expensive!   Needless to say I dreaded spring.

Rebuilding after miscarriage

peaceful
The ability to become pregnant is a wonderful gift, but to have it suddenly taken away can be traumatic.  Having a miscarriage can be both physically and emotionally draining, and when it comes to having recurrent miscarriages, the body becomes both physically and emotionally exhausted.

Put down those melon balls!

Grassy_field
Spring is almost here! The snow is melting revealing the dormant grass that lay beneath it. After this winter, brown grass never looked so good. But with spring comes spring allergies. For allergy sufferers, the end of winter and the start of spring isn't necessarily a time to look forward to. But, if you treat yourself right you can greatly reduce your symptoms and actually enjoy this time of year!

I always say it, food is medicine! What you eat affects you in some way. By avoiding certain foods, you can greatly reduce your symptoms. In an earlier blog, I mentioned a list of foods and I want to bring them up again. I think this is a good list:

Prepping for pregnancy

birth_control

Are you thinking of having a bundle of joy any time soon? If so, it is important to take care of yourself now so that you and baby are healthy and happy! Many times, people come off their birth control pills/patch/ring expecting to conceive right away. If not then, then at least in the few months that follow. Some women are fortunate enough to have no issues making the transition from hormonal birth control to doing everything on their own smoothly and soundly. Others however need a little more adjustment time. This is actually an important time to have because bringing your body into balance sometimes takes time.

Heart health and fat

Healthy_fatsWhat do you think of when you hear: (dietary) fat? The picture that comes to my mind is of french fries dripping grease, or a really greasy pizza. I think most of us picture the unhealthy fats but in all actuality, not all dietary fat is bad. Between saturated, polyunsaturated, monounsaturated and trans fats, it can be confusing to know which are the good fats and which are the bad fats. High levels of LDL (found in the bad fats) can increase your risk of heart disease, while high levels of HDL(found in the good fats) can help lower your risk of heart disease. In spirit of heart awareness month, I thought I'd help break it down a little.

Happy Thanksgiving!

 Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving! Most of us are going to indulge and eat all the yummy foods that we can physically stand. I know that I am. I will       admit it. I love turkey day and I plan on thoroughly enjoying it. I know that I will pay the price after wards, but I also know a few tricks to help ease that over eating discomfort.
