R.A.

After visitng any number of medical specialists from January, 2011 to June 2011, and having been subjected to every test in the book, I still had no diagnosis for my low hemoglobin and my swollen hands and feet. The swelling in my hands became so severe I had to have my rings cut off. In desperation, in June I began going to a highly recommended acupuncturist. After the 4th treatment, I started to see improvement and the improvement continued. In October I decided to keep the appointment that had been made for me with a rheumatologist in August even though I was now quite comfortable as a result of the acupuncture. The diagnosis was rheumatoid arthritis. I understand there is not a cure for R.A. but I am very satisfied with the level of comfort acupuncture has given me. I am now on a mild medication for R.A. that I am hoping will maintain that level without damaging my liver or my only kidney. If it does not, I will return to acupuncture, even though it is an out-of-pocket expense. My medical plan, as most, refuses to reimburse the cost of acupuncture which I feel was my salvation.

Resolutions? We have packages!

Jan_2012
It’s the New Year! It’s so hard to believe another year has flown by. But it has and here we are, making our lists of what we are going to achieve and what we are going to leave behind. This is the time where we prioritize our health and happiness at the top of the list. “This year I’m going to quit smoking”, “This year I’m going to get in shape and lose weight”, “This year I’m going to take really good care of myself”. We’ve all done it. But that ambition and that drive seems to last for approximately two weeks, if that, and our goals start sliding and we start slipping. Suddenly it is January 30th and we end up making our old excuses once again.

White Lily Acupuncture has package specials that are designed with your goals in mind.

Amenorrhea and anovulation

My main reason for contacting Christine was to try acupuncture to treat my infertility issues (amenorrhea/chronic anovulation) with the hopes of becoming pregnant. Upon my initial visit with Christine, she sought out a very detailed past medical history, along with signs/symptoms I had been experiencing. Although my main focus, was on "having a baby," Christine's main focus was on treating me as a "whole" versus one issue, as I had multiple issues going (mainly gastrointestinal) on when I first started going to Christine. I spent a year seeing Christine receiving acupuncture treatments and trying various herbal teas. Each and every time I met with Christine, which was sometimes twice a week, she was always very personable, eager to hear what was going on with me, and individualized my treatment plan with my current issues. For example, in the course of the year there were times I had sinus/cold/flu issues going on, so Christine would treat those symptoms and within a day or two I was often feeling better. She was always happy to answer all my questions, offer many resources for me to read, and to seek other opinions regarding answers to questions/treatment options. Christine was very flexible with her schedule accommodating my work schedule and appointment needs. Although the end result was not a pregnancy, all the gastrointestinal issues were resolved. I would highly recommend White Lily Acupuncture to anyone who is seeking acupuncture as an alternative therapy. If I were to ever seek acupuncture again, I would without a doubt go back to see Christine.

Acupressure for tummy troubles

Hopefully everyone had a great Turkey Day, some days off to relax or shop, and some days to enjoy the nice weather we have had. If you found yourself indulging in all the yummies from and leftover from Thanksgiving, and are now experiencing “off” digestion, let me remind you that acupuncture can quickly harmonize your digestive functions and help you feel better quickly, effectively and naturally. For those of you who have had acupuncture, you have probably experienced an active stomach once the needles are inserted. This goes to show how quickly the body responds to acupuncture and how it can quickly help you. There are some acupuncture points you can press at home to help settle a rumbly tummy, move food stagnation from overeating, relieve bloating, cramping, nausea, diarrhea or constipation.

But you're not Chinese

Youre_not_chinese
If you are new to Chinese medicine, this little short explains common questions, like education and licensing standards, the difference between chiropractic acupuncture and acupuncture given by someone who practices Chinese medicine, and how it is not hocus pocos.

Chronic Lyme Disease

I started to see Christine at the lowest point in my life as I was dealing with Chronic Lyme Disease and could no longer work.  (I tried acupuncture a year or two earlier with a different person but did not feel comfortable with it.)

My experience with Christine has been so overwhelmingly positive that it is difficult to describe how much she has helped me.  First of all, her training and background help to give her a wide range of knowledge that she is able to share in a very gently and caring way.  Over the past 8 months, I have felt that she has been a special angel that is there to listen to me and that she truly cares about my progress as she has worked to help me.

Treatment for Chronic Lyme Disease involves long term use of several strong doses of antibiotics everyday, which in itself is not easy on the body.  Christine's knowledge and kindness have made my treatments so much easier, and I am much stronger and able to enjoy my family and friends so much more than I was when I first walked into Christine's office.

I have highly recommended Christine's services to my friends.  Christine provides an exceptional acupuncture service for a wide variety of needs and she does this in a way that allows the patient to feel safe and comfortable.  She has been a "miracle worker" in my life and I am very grateful to her for all that she has done to help me.

Thanks Christine for all the ways that you are helping me to continue to heal!

Fall Allergies

Sneezing_ladyAbout ten years ago, I moved here from lovely and perfect San Diego.   It was early March and only a few short months later, I learned, without insurance, that I was allergic to every single thing that grew here.   Each spring for the next three years, I would end up in the hospital because it set off such severe allergic asthma.   I didn’t know I was allergic to anything.   I ended up having to be on Advair, Singulair, and a fast acting inhaler.   I also had to start taking allergy medicine in late winter to build it up for spring.   I absolutely hated taking anything mainly out of laziness and the rebellion of having to take something at all, so I wasn’t always consistent.   This was miserable and expensive!   Needless to say I dreaded spring.

Forty by Thirty -  Forty new things before thirty.  How fun!! (and inspiring!)  I had the pleasure of treating Megan, who very courageously tried the new thing of the week - acupuncture!  For all of you who haven't tried acupuncture and have reservations about trying it, read Megan's experience.  I think alot of people could relate to the obvious apprehensions of getting acupuncture, plus she's a funny writer and took pictures! (even though she wasn't supposed to move!!)

Enjoy!

Pregnancy after miscarriage

“I went to Christine after experiencing a miscarriage the year before.  My doctors would not say why I had a miscarriage, but they did diagnose me with low progesterone during that pregnancy.  Despite taking progesterone supplements for a few months when trying again, I was not getting pregnant right away like I did the first time.  I met with Christine, and she had me chart my temperatures which did in fact confirm some hormone imbalances.  After seeing Christine for two months for acupuncture and taking prescribed herbs from her, I am happy to say I got pregnant again and all is going great.  I am 15 weeks along, and I firmly believe that my treatment through Christine was a strong factor in having a successful pregnancy this time around.”
