Vitamin D

VD
Alot of my patients ask about Vitamin D. Because of where we live, I'm sure each one of us has been told to take it, but not everyone knows how much to take or where to find it. Lately, I have heard of patients being prescribed 50,000 IU's a day. Wow, that's a lot of Vitmain D. Is it necessary? Kate explains Vitamin D, its benefits, and how much we can safely take.

Zucchini Spaghetti with Marinara!
Posted on: Friday, January 13, 2012

As we leave the sparkle and dazzle of the New Year behind us, our resolutions for the coming year can begin to fall by the wayside. The hustle and bustle of the holidays are over and the cookies and candies and other sweets have disappeared from the kitchens and the office break rooms. Now is the time when we can begin to put our energies back into ourselves and our bodies. "Coming down" from the holiday food binge can be hard as our stomachs are used to being filled by comforting, savory dinners and sweet deserts. It can be difficult to adjust to a more healthful, nutritious eating pattern after all that food, but fear not! You can still enjoy savory, comforting meals that will not only leave your tummy happy, but will also leave your body better off than before you ate it. We give you:

Who likes to be SAD?

SAD
The holidays are over and now we have 3-4 more months of winter to look forward to. During this time most of us will be hit by SAD in one way or another. We all know that with the short days and lack of sunshine, the cold, and being cooped up all day long, winter can be a downer. We feel stuck or literally stagnated and when this happens, our liver qi often gets stagnated as well. Symptoms of liver qi stagnation are depression, anxiety, frustration, and anger.

One of the most beautiful things about Chinese medicine is that is great for moving qi. We might be literally stuck inside, but it is important to keep qi moving to keep us feeling happy. Along with upping your dose of vitamin d and staying active – indoors or out, Chinese medicine can help you avoid those winter blues.

Resolutions? We have packages!

Jan_2012
It’s the New Year! It’s so hard to believe another year has flown by. But it has and here we are, making our lists of what we are going to achieve and what we are going to leave behind. This is the time where we prioritize our health and happiness at the top of the list. “This year I’m going to quit smoking”, “This year I’m going to get in shape and lose weight”, “This year I’m going to take really good care of myself”. We’ve all done it. But that ambition and that drive seems to last for approximately two weeks, if that, and our goals start sliding and we start slipping. Suddenly it is January 30th and we end up making our old excuses once again.

White Lily Acupuncture has package specials that are designed with your goals in mind.

Cranvodka
Once again, it is time to welcome in the new year! Most people will be celebrating the new year with good company, good food, and good drinks! Kate and I thought "What a good time to show people how to make healthier versions of classic cocktails!" If you are a fan of WLA on facebook, you might have seen our video debuts on how to make the Cran-Vodka Revisited and the Green Tea-ser Martini. If you haven't already, be sure to check them out! Below are the ingrediants. Please drink responsibly.

We hope you all have a very wonderful New Year!! Cheers!
